Episode number six, one of my personal favourite podcasts for a long time. In this weeks episode not only do you have the delectable auditory contributions of Richie Scott, but we’ve also go the delightful witticisms of Nick Abbey, yes another Nick – just to confuse things even more.

Listen as we discuss the latest from London on the G20 summit, and I report back as I make it out alive from the streets of riot-ridden London! Unfortunately for me I didn’t bump into neither Obama nor the Queen whilst stopping in London. There’s always next time I guess! We also discuss Adam’s departure from the show, and newcomer Nick sings him a tribute which moves the nation to an explosion of emotion.

I apologise to listeners for my ignorance about David Blunket and daylight savings time, whilst Richie updates us on the latest Lily Allen updates in something which he is desperately pushing to become a regular item. I also introduce the QVC game to the show (blatantly stolen from another podcast across the seas) and Nick Abbey gets on his soapbox to rant about people mistaking political-correctness for bad health and safety statements.

Also in the show, we talk about mutant piglets, cows on the run and toxic glue!

After an amazing 24 show contribution, Adam has hung up his podcast cans in search of better things. WOOTcast wishes him well in all his future endeavours and offers an open door had he like to make an appearance on future shows. Not to worry though listeners, as the podcast shall remain in production however instead of the regular input from my co-host Adam; we’ll toggle between input from the new regular co-host Richie (who appears via phone in this week’s episode) or various other guests, and maybe even a couple of celebrity co-hosts.

In this week’s WOOTcast we discuss the massive embarrassment that was the Jade Goody saga in the last episode, Drawing a line under the whole thing. We also talk about Mircale Fruit, the amazing grape-like fruit that completely re-wires your taste buds making regular pieces of fruit taste like chocolate. We exploer Richie’s fascination with Twitter, and who he’s been stalking recently, from the activities of Philip Schofield on Google Street view to the complexion status of Lily Allen.

Also in the show we talk about a new initiative to scare off teens, by placing unfaltering shades of light in areas of dense anti-social behaviour, in an attempt to embarrass perpetrators by showing their ACNE. We couldn’t miss the wonderful hiccup made by Jacqui Smith’s husband as she ‘accidentally’ puts pornography as an expense. Taxpayer’s money, the scandal!

Listen as we talk about the new film Lesbian Vampire Killers! starring James Cordon and Matt Horne, and their equally awful new sketch show that premiered on BBC three this month. Finally, I mange to slip in a quick rant about NatWest, as they refuse to take my money off me (don’t they know it’s a recession!).

After taking a short break, we’re back to bring you episode 4 in the second series of WOOTcast. In this week’s unusually tasteless episode we fixate on Jade Goody’s traumatic affair by seizing the opportunity in having a drawing competition. We also discuss the overwhelming popular of analogue twittering (aka talking), and take a look at the profiles of next week’s apprentices who will be competing to win the attention of Sir Alan Sugar on the hit show The Apprentice when it starts next week.

Gok-shock as I recount my star studded tail of attending the filming of Gok’s fashion fix and the fabulous Brix Smith-Start. We also have another exclusive, as we interview Craig David – discussing his new album and how he took his inspiration from some new jeans that he bought.

You’ll also find all sort of other treats in this week’s podcast, including evaporated Malibu, my visit to Manchester and the ever popular Things that are Crap make it’s return!

Oh and did I mention I HATE the new facebook homepage…

The third instalment of WOOTcast series two gets off to a flying start, when I show Adam my broken umbrella handle, before spearing an old apple with it – this then affects us quite vividly for the rest of the programme when I decide to wave it about at random intervals during recording.

This week’s hypothesis which we intend to either prove or disprove over the course of the episode is: “Who shot JR?”.

Regular item Things That Are Crap announces the top 10 offenders this week including ‘the miracle of osmosis’, ‘identity theft’ and ‘hard work’. Also this week we try and guess the enigmatic noise in Noise In My Head - what on earth could it be? Send your answers to noise@wootcast.net.

We’re still asking you to send us your questions and problems to askrichie@wootcast.net for next week’s new item. Think of it as your personal agony uncle.

Also this week we talk about the price change in Sky+ HD, Adam’s 23-year fashion theory, Bill Gates’ Gates, Danny Boyle’s Oscar winner: Slumdog Milllllll-onaire. I talk about the sugar-mice-condom-mix-up.

Sorry for the unexpected break, Adam had to quickly leave the country on the run from the law. But we’re back and bring you the second instalment in the second series of WOOTcast!

In this week’s edition of the podcast we talk about the budget Brit Awards, and the awkwardly bad pairing that was Horne/Cordon with Kylie (a presenting car crash). We also discuss the uproar that was caused after children’s TV channel Cbeebies select Cerrie Burnell who was born with only one hand to present on the channel.

This week’s hypothesis which we intend to either prove or disprove over the course of the episode is: “The recession causes baldness” – contributors towards the argument include Jade Goody and Britney.

I recount the mortifying experience of switching hairdressers to an overly masculine salon where I can’t help but feel that they’re overcompensating for something, but can’t quite put my finger on what.

Two new (hopefully) regular items are launched this week including: “Noise In My Head” (email your answers to noise@wootcast.net) and “Ask Richie” where we’ve scoured the corner of the globe to find you the solution to all your problems and concerns. Email any problems (trivial or not) that you may face in day-to-day life, to be included in next week’s podcast to askrichie@wootcast.net.

Also in the show we talk about the Oscars, celebrating Danny Boyle’s sweeping success with Slumdog Millionaire and Sean Penn’s brilliant performance in MILK.

Update » New Website Problems February 10th, 2009

So the new look WOOTcast 2.0 website was meant to launch alongside the first podcast of Series 2, but we’re having a couple of minor teething problems. All should be fixed in the next few days, until then some areas of the site may become inaccessible.

I am aware of this, and I am working on it.

After taking a short break over January we’re back, admittedly a week later than originally planned to bring you the first episode from WOOTcast Seires 2: The Second Coming. Because we had so much to catch up on we’ve pulled a feature length podcast out of our pod-hats, but don’t be alarmed as we plan to keep the regular podcasts to around 40 minutes in the future.

This week’s hypothesis which we intend to either prove or disprove over the course of the episode is: “Australians are better than Facebook.”

So alot has happened during our break, NBC screened the Superbowl, Obama was inaugurated, RBS are challenging good sense, Carol Thatcher departs from the BBC after comments of questionable taste, Guantanamo Bay is ordered to close within the year, Slumdog cleaned up at the Baftas, but most importantly of all Paris Hilton is in the UK recruiting a new best friend, on intellectual juggernaut ITV2.

We didn’t quite get around to fitting in any of our regular items apart from Things That Are Crap, but do not worry as Dave or No Dave and many other regular favourite will be returning in future episodes.

From the deeper corners of the news this week we find out stories about the renamed Dildo Boulevard in Australia, Facebook iguana crimes, Liverpool street silence dancing flash mob and the Australian man who tried to smuggle pigeons into the country in his trousers.

We also have a quick look at the Superbowl ads, and the fact that American diner Denny’s have decided to give away 6 million free grand slam breakfasts - which puts us both in the mood for some overindulgent Americano cuisine.

Sadly Episode 20 draws WOOTcast Series 1 to a rather poignant close. So make the most of this episode, it’s all you’re getting until Series 2! But don’t pick up the razor blades just yet, because we will return in 2009, keep checking the website for information on ‘WOOTcast: The Second Coming’. Also do remember to stay subscribed to our podcast feed - it’ll be the first place to hear the new episodes in 2009.

2008: A Year in Review

In this bumper edition podcast, we look back over the big events of 2009… or at least the ones Google pointed us to - taking it month by month in a Charlie Brooker style format (just with less laughs per minute, and without a middle aged despot-style fat man telling you what’s going on). From Heath Leger’s death to Obama’s electric election, we’ve got 2009 all wrapped up.

Of course the podcast this week also has regular like Complete Bollox True or False and a special edition of Things That Are Crap for the whole of 2008… what could be top offender of 2008? Listen to find out!

Keep listening right through to the end, because we’ve inserted a lovingly crafted ‘Best Bits’ WOOTcast highlights package onto the end of this podcast (that’s after the end music). Until WOOTcast Series 2, both I and Adam thank you for joining us for an amazing 20 episodes.

Thank you.

English (UK)This week’s podcast is available in English (UK).

Because of other commitments we weren’t able to record the WOOTcast podcast on the same day that it goes out, like we usually do - but we hope this prerecord suffices… We’ve tried to make it topically neutral too so we don’t seem too out of date!

Unfortunately that means that we missed the comical goldmine that was Bush being hit by a shoe at a press conference, but the Beeb did a pretty good job of covering that anyway.

As all good podcasts should, number 18 kicks off with an impromptu rap, and it all goes downhill from there! We discuss the requirement to advertise web addresses on TV channels: doesn’t everyone know them already? I explain the way the world of television ratings work to Adam for no particular reason (listen up fact fans!). We also give a shoutout to our celeb pals in the world of podcasting; the guys from the Boredcast and our less-than-pals, over at Absolute Radio’s Geoff Lloyd’s Hometime Show.

ZENcast.com rate us 2nd best comedy podcast on their website! And 3rd best overall! Surely there was some sort of error in administration somewhere? We talk about the unusual story about the woman who had her eardrum ruptured after exchanging a kiss with her lover. And boo-hiss-boo as Obama get spotted in public with a Microsoft Zune (the scandal!).

Topping the show off, I indulge in my favourite pass-time, making Adam guess things that he’s got no chance of guessing in the new feature: Complete Bollocks True or False? Oh and we also have some fun playing the Argos game as Adam helpless flounders at guessing random items out of the catalogue, much to my amusement of course.

Join us next week for our Christmas Special! (that’s the 23rd of December for those of you using the Gregorian calendar).
